Hi!
I am Ville Majanen, an e-commerce merchant and veteran of trade with China, an incurable entrepreneur at heart. I was born in Kerava in 1983. I went on a high-school exchange to the United States, worked summer jobs in Germany and eventually moved to Hong Kong in 2006 as part of my business administration studies, where I have enjoyed living ever since.
Most people probably know me as the founder and face of the online store e-ville.

Alongside the online store e-ville, Verkkokauppa.com acquired e-ville’s sourcing office in Shenzhen, China. Following the acquisition, I took responsibility for the operations of the Shenzhen sourcing office, primarily in connection with the group’s private-label assortment projects.
FOUNDER

I founded e-ville in Hong Kong at the end of my exchange studies. What began as a one-person business operating through Huuto.net grew over the years into an online store employing over 40 people in three countries.
The online store e-ville has a sourcing office in Shenzhen, “China’s Silicon Valley”, a warehouse in Finland and a service office in Thailand. Serving Nordic consumers, e-ville sells especially consumer electronics such as phones, as well as hobby equipment, barbecues, bicycles and camping equipment.
In 2022, the listed company Verkkokauppa.com bought the online store e-ville.

2009-2013 and 2024-2025 Finnish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong
I have been active in the Finnish communities in Hong Kong and southern China and, among other things, helped establish the Young Professionals group operating under the Finnish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong.
Finncham Young Professionals organises events and networking opportunities for students and other young people who have moved to Hong Kong.

After e-ville established a service office in Thailand, I also joined the board of the chamber of commerce in Thailand. While on the board, I helped develop ideas for goals, practices and strategy relating to communication and networking events, as well as ways to involve young Finns living in Bangkok in the association’s activities.

Guangdong province, next to Hong Kong, is home to some of China’s largest cities, and many Finnish companies have also established offices in Shenzhen, Dongguan or Guangzhou. I joined the FBC board in 2013 after e-ville established an office in Shenzhen.
I served as the association’s vice-chair for two years.

Despite e-ville’s busy schedule, I have had the opportunity to teach a few courses for business students at universities of applied sciences.
The lectures and the intensive and summer courses I taught focused particularly on e-commerce, product sourcing in China and assortment development.

In addition to the courses, I have had the opportunity to share my thoughts as a guest lecturer at various events and on podcasts. Over the years, I have met wonderful people from different circles and discussed e-commerce, relations between Finland and China, and the challenges of trade.
