& ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Hi!
I am Ville Majanen, an e-commerce entrepreneur and China commerce enthusiast. I was born in Kerava, Finland, in 1983. I was on exchange in The United States in high school, worked a summer in Germany and then moved to Hong Kong as part of my BBA studies in 2006, where I have since been living.
Most people recognise me as the founder and face of the online store e-ville.com.
As a part of the purchase of e-ville.com, Verkkokauppa.com acquisitioned the sourcing office in Shenzhen, China. After the acquisition, I moved to manage the sourcing office to work on the private-label brands sold by Verkkokauppa.com.
I founded e-ville after my exchange studies in Hong Kong. What started as a one-man business grew over the years to employ over 40 people in three countries.
Online store e-ville has a sourcing office in Shenzhen, the heart of Chinese innovation and production, a warehouse in Finland, and an office in Thailand. The store mostly serves Nordic consumers and sells electronics and household and hobby products like bicycles, camping gear, barbeque pits and more.
In 2022, the stock-listed company Verkkokauppa.com acquisitioned e-ville in its entirety.
Amesan Consulting offers HR and recruiting services and is using a data driven direct search to solve a lot of the traditional challenges of recruitment. I have been a member of the board of Amesan Consulting since 2020.
I have been active in the Finnish communities in Hong Kong and Souther China. I was involved in setting up a sub group under the chamber called Young Professionals.
Young Professionals arranges events and networking opportunities for students and other youth living or moving into Hong Kong.
After e-ville set up an office in Thailand, I joined the Thai-Finnish Chamber of Commerce. I was working on brainstorming ways to improve the strategy, goals and methods surrounding networking and communication, especially to activate the young professionals living in Bangkok and Thailand.
In the Guangdong province, next to Hong Kong, are some of the biggest cities in China. Several Finnish businesses have set up their operations in Shenzhen, Dongguan or Guangzhou. I joined the FBC board in 2013 after e-ville set up an office in Shenzhen.
I worked as the vice chairman of the board for two years.
Regardless of the busy schedule at e-ville, I was able to teach on a few occasions at Finnish universities. The lectures have mainly been about e-commerce, China sourcing and product selection.
In addition to teaching courses at universities, I have been invited as a guest speaker in various podcasts and events to talk about e-commerce, Finno-Chinese relationships and challenges in trade. In these events, I have had the priviledge of meeting a lot of great people throughout the years.
